Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We reviewed some material for the student's calculus final. Topics we discussed today included graphing functions, limits, integration by parts, derivatives, and definition of integral. I also provided him with some links to videos and derivative solvers, and showed him graphing in google. We will be giving this a solid effort."
"In this session we continued to review for the student's final exam. We continued to work on her review packet, past exams, and past quizzes. We focused on the concepts that she did not remember how to work out. These included: graphing and understanding the properties of the derivative and the second derivative, relative rates, theorems, and word problems. She benefitted from the material we covered."
"We covered derivatives and finding average derivatives and instantaneous derivatives. We also went over the student's study guide practice which contained a cumulative amount of work that he has to do for his test tomorrow."
"In the session we continued work on the online calculus class. We did derivatives and integrals of logs and exponentials and inverse trig functions. We completed a quiz as well."
"We mostly worked through optimization problems from the homework. The student understands how to generally go about solving these problems, but is struggling with translating the words of the questions into equations that she can solve. After just a bit more practice, though, I think she will have a good handle on this."
"We worked on a new review packet, going over continuity and using the graph of the derivative to find out information about the graph of the function. I also gave a crash course in trig substitution, volumes of revolution by disk, washer, and shell, and in integrals in polar coordinates."
