"-We did fourth grade math, including multiple choice, word problems, fractions, line plotting, and short answers from a packet provided. -The kids are having an easier time with the work and not melting or shutting down. -No extra work was given."
"Covered a review of binomial and geometric distribution. Practiced problem-solving techniques. Used correct structure of the equation setup and checked answer through calculator probability values. Reviewed usage of each distribution and why the usage is important. Practiced problem breakdown techniques of finding all variables first as the problem is being read and then solve for the question. Assigned for homework to review the difference between binomial pdf and cdf. Student began to understand importance of steps when conducting an oral review of what variables are needed to solve problems. Student reported they received an 89 on their test before spring break."
"The student and I began by going over the different sections in a chapter in her math book about perimeter. She had gone over all of these sections at school (understanding perimeter, drawing shapes with perimeters, drawing different shapes with the same perimeter), but I wanted to review these concepts to see how she had thought about them. As we went through the worksheets, we went over specific questions, and then I also came up with related questions so that she could be challenged with a new but similar question. She seemed comfortable with the concept of perimeter - the one area in which she struggled was with making up different shapes all with the same perimeter. We discussed how to count your perimeter as you go, to ensure that you don't draw an entire shape only to have it have the wrong perimeter. We also went over tools and units of perimeter, which she understood well. Another concept that we focused on was finding the perimeter of regular polygons - we will continue to work on which polygons are which so that these perimeters come more easily. She and I then worked through a few more example problems from each section of the chapter. We did all of this in preparation for her test on Friday. We will continue to review the chapter on Thursday during our session."
"We continued covering hyperbola problems. The student is understanding how to solve problems using the information given in the questions."
"We went over a review for a teacher test the student is taking with a section in Math. We went over graphing, fractions, probability, and word problems."
"Today we covered solving and graphing inequalities. After that, we worked on some of the student's basic skills such as multiplication and fractions."
