Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we worked on the student's spelling. I gave her two practice tests and we went over her composition as well."
"During this session, I helped guide him in completing a creative writing assignment due the next day, continuing to strengthen the same three steps as for more analytical writing: brainstorming, drafting, and editing. Next, I helped him brainstorm a paragraph for a longer term writing assignment, underscoring differences between supporting evidence and supporting details."
"This is a joint session. Worked with Student 1 for 40 minutes. Completed freewriting exercise. Introduced Level 20 spelling words. Discussed Fred Astaire research project. Worked with Student 2 for 40 minutes. Completed freewriting exercise. Discussed class assignment. Worked with Student 3 or 40 minutes. Completed freewriting exercise. Introduced Level 20 spelling words. Introduced world geography research project."
"The student and I have been working on a final rough draft of Project 2 and today's session completed another large chunk of the essay. She will submit what we have so far to her professor later today for additional feedback. We are trying to match any feedback with definitive responses in the final paper that is due on Thursday. More theoretical background and data analysis was completed, along with methodology. Tomorrow's session will focus on data analysis/summary/conclusion and I will email her an edited version to run by her professor again for more comments."
"At this evening's session, we reviewed and the student wrote two responses for her psychology class. Her writing has shown great improvement. She brings her knowledge of the concepts taught in her courses, which adds to her ability to develop well-written responses and comments to the weekly assignments. She and I will be meeting once a week until the end of this semester."
"We worked on creating an outline for an essay. The student has made significant progress and at this point knows exactly what he is supposed to do. We have transitioned from trying to understand the assignment, to simply collaborating on the assignment to make his writing more effective. I left him with 2 outlines that he created and I expect to proofread two essays tomorrow."
