Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We reviewed Mendelian genetics for her upcoming exam in the course. The student seemed comfortable the material covered. We also covered colligative properties in general chemistry."
"Today we covered the following: Chemistry: ionic vs covalent bonds, nomenclature, and Lewis dot structures. Student should try to get more practice naming and, especially, drawing Lewis dot structures -- practice is key for those."
"Met with the student and went over his notes from class for this week. The chapter was about stereochemistry and we discussed topics such as types of isomers, molecular strain, enantiomers, chirality, etc."
"The student is understanding the material fairly well. His only difficulty is the language barrier but overall he seems to be grasping the material. Today, we discussed the digestive tract, the respiratory system, the different mechanisms involving each system and how they differ between species. Notes were taken for easier understanding of the material."
"The student and I covered Ch 55 and Ch 56. I was glad to see the student picked up the material fast, because we moved fast and covered a lot of content in preparation for his exam. I included some study strategies, such as looking at questions and content at the end of chapters and looking up any definitions he is not familiar with before tests. Also, I mentioned that it is very useful to find out what his learning style is and play to that strength while studying to be more efficient. I asked him a lot of questions and follow up questions to make sure he was retaining the material. I plan on sending him a full length practice exam after our next session. When we meet again on Wednesday we will wrap up the last 3 chapters in preparation for his Friday exam. The student is a trooper. I was impressed to see him push through the session and give it his all."
"During this session, a biology packet and online test (about 80 problems) were reviewed and discussed in preparation for the upcoming assessment test. All topics learned from this past year were touched upon, and it is expected that the student will do well on the examination."
