Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student has a review sheet for his final. We covered about 90% of it and the student has great recall for all the material covered throughout the term. We reviewed conic sections, logarithms, quadratic equations, solving linear systems, etc."
"The student and I worked through a reading test. After she finished one section of the test, we would work through the questions she got wrong out loud. I walked her through using the process of elimination and also how to figure out questions about inferring something or concluding something. We then started an English test and went through 12 questions."
"The student's business math class came with a program to walk through the concepts. We followed this and covered basic algebra with one or two variables, and started working with quadratic equations. We also worked through a business word problem. He got down the first few concepts well."
"We worked on telling time. We also read and talked about the story. line in the book. We talked about fiction and non fiction books. I asked the student to think about what type of book he would write and what he would write about."
"Did a series of problems from released assessment tests. The student did quite well, self-monitored for reading errors, and mostly referred back to the text when she was unsure of answers."
"After looking at a the student's recent homework scores and emphasizing the importance of turning in complete assignments (essentially "free" points and good exercise), we reviewed his homework for today, then he completed his homework for Monday. To his credit, he has been doing very well on the new quarter's first quizzes. We will meet again on Monday."
