Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I reviewed math concepts that are frequently tested on the ACT and with which he recalled having difficulties. We practiced strategies on the graphing calculator and using practice problems. His goal for September 2011 is 30 or 31. His scores in June 2011 were: 31E, 29M, 27R, 29S = 29Composite."
"The student and I met from 10-12. She had completed all of test 4 with the exception of the last two sections. We reviewed all of the missed questions from all of the sections with the exception of just a few questions about passages from the verbal section. She had done considerably better on this test, it seemed. We reviewed, as always, strategies that would help pinpoint common problems that could likely appear on other tests. We also added a few more words to the vocab list and reviewed the list of vocab words that we have. We're set to meet again on Friday."
"The student did an awesome job today. We reviewed most of her work that she brought home. We reviewed arc length, area of a sector, and finding angles of tangent and secant lines. She worked very hard today and she did a good job. She is doing a better job in human geography. She is studying more and she did a good job in her geometry."
"After finishing the personal statement and resume, The student and I began the process of applying to various graduate schools."
"The student had a long homework assignment, in preparation for a test. He was very good at answering most problems and understanding what needs to be done. He understands what is going on and should be prepared."
"Today we continued to make progress in improving the student's test-taking strategies. I advised her to save time and go with her gut instinct on questions in order to complete the exam, then go back and review and/or change her answers if she has time. Going through the test again, only without second guessing herself today, she was able to complete the full mock exam with ten minutes left. This made a huge difference and helped boost her confidence in herself. When we went over the answers, there were numerous answers in which she made the right choice when she trusted her gut and did not second guess herself or talk herself out of the right answer."
