Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I worked on predicting products for different types of chemical reactions (synthesis, decomposition, combustion, single replacement, and double replacement) and continued to practice balancing equations. We covered mnemonics for the activity series of metals (PCS MAZINTL) and for predicting double replacement reactions (if at least one potential product is insoluble, a reaction will take place because formation of a precipitate drives the reaction forward). The student is gaining more confidence in her chemistry skills and made an 89 on her last test (possibly even higher if likely grading error is corrected)."
"Today we worked on setting up math expressions using variables and also how to solve for these unknown variables. We also worked on the student's essay to produce more concrete examples to back up his thesis statement."
"The student and I worked on math and some science. She has the math material down, and just needs a few reminders and some help on timing. We also worked on the science section and talked about how little you need to read in order to answer the questions. We will be working on math the most - we will work on other subjects in our remaining time each session."
"The student and I went over the science, reading, and math sections of one of his practice tests. Because his reading comprehension skills are strong, we will continue to focus on improving his math performance before he takes the ACT in a month."
"The class is going over inequalities and more specifically absolute value inequalities. After reviewing the homework we went over the key concepts related to absolute value inequalities, and I also emphasized further upon points touched on during lectures."
