Tutoring review by Zhimeng in Union City, CA
In this session we did several definite integral exercises, as well as how to use the fundamental theorem of calculus to solve integral function problems. We emphasized starting from first principles with integral function problems so that the algebra that develops along the way to the answer can capture all the special cases.

Tutoring review by Laura in Union City, CA
Tonight, I reviewed the ways to find the area of parallelograms, triangles, and trapezoids with the student, as she has a chapter test tomorrow. She also had practice using a calculator, as she will be allowed to use it on the test. She got a 90% on her last chapter test, if she gets an A on this one, then her grade will probably go up to a B. She had a good understanding of the formulas for this test.

Tutoring review by Tirsit in Union City, CA
Great and productive first session. This is the first time the student is taking a biology course for some time, and he does not feel prepared for his college course which is a graduation requirement. Most of his work this semester will be catching up on the basic concepts, but I think he can master that. He is very positive towards the material and was not afraid to take notes and ask questions. His first exam is coming up in a few weeks, so I encouraged him to preview and review his lecture slides, attend lecture, and ask me any follow up questions he may have. Today we reviewed basic chemistry, types of bonds, and the chemical makeup of amino acids.

Tutoring review by Lydia in Union City, CA
The student and I went over a review algebra worksheet to make sure that her answers were correct and finish the problems she did not understand. I got an understanding of her math skills in this session. There are some basic algebra skills (multiplying, adding, and subtracting negative numbers) that she has not mastered yet. I identified those and drilled her with practice. This is something I have made a note of and will come back to in the sessions to come. We covered system of equations, inequalities, graphing equations, finding domain and range, and graphing the area under inequalities and equations.

Tutoring review by Kendra in Union City, CA
The student's class has been focused on functions, so we started with some complex ones, but then I wanted her to think about the same type of equations (with exponents, addition, and subtraction) but in a different way. So we switched over to factoring complex monomials and polynomials. The problems had a lot of steps, and took a lot of intuitive thinking. She did well, and only got stuck when she made small mistakes. Sometimes the large exponents would not make sense to her at first, but I guided her reminding her to "take out" everything the numbers had in common.
