Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We covered: *Reviewed parts of speech *Practiced writing a clear short story with adjectives and proper grammar usage *Reviewed correcting run-on sentences (WS) *Reviewed division/multiplication tables *Reviewed averaging numbers"
"We worked on the student's spell-a-thon work: making sentences that show your knowledge of the differential definitions of homophones. The extra credit challenge was to try to use all 2 or 3 of the homophones in the same sentence. The student was very good at this. She showed a thorough understanding of the differences and how to use them in a sentence. We also worked on fraction division in mathematics. In language arts, we worked on colons, semicolons, and apostrophes."
"Today we began with math. The student is doing multiplication of mixed numbers and has a good grasp on the concept. We also did a review of the past 5 lessons to make sure that he is retaining the information he has learned. We spent the remainder of the time studying for his social studies test and making sure that he knew the information and concepts in depth."
"Today, I worked with both students and helped them prepare for the state assessment testing. Student 1 and I spent time on the reading portion of the test, while Student 2 and I covered math questions. We covered testing strategies as well as possible testing content for their grade level. They both did an excellent job."
"The student did two stories today, and his mom was present. We collectively nudged him to think of ways in which he related to the main character of a story."
"We went over the student's graph test, and she understands her mistakes now. I also helped her with her synonym and antonym homework. She also had a prompt to complete. She finished writing it and I left her drawing/coloring it."
