If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
I would explain the subject in different ways and use drawings and fun analogies to help them comprehend.
How would you help a student get excited/engaged with a subject that they are struggling in?
I would give the student a little background on the subject, fun facts, real life use of the subject, why it is important to learn it, and how this knowledge could be used in order to keep the student motivated to learn the material.
What techniques would you use to be sure that a student understands the material?
I would use demonstrations, drawings, and analogies, ask if the student is comfortable enough with the subject to be able to explain it in his/her own words, and suggest the use of flashcards for subjects requiring memorization.
How do you evaluate a student's needs?
Communication is key! It's important to ask the students what part of a concept they are struggling with, what is it that makes it hard for them to learn the subject, and only proceed after completely understanding why the student is struggling.
