I'm a fun-loving goofball nerd who's interested in everything math and science. My passion for teaching comes from a deep desire to understand and communicate fundamental truths about the exciting, beautiful, and wacky world we inhabit. I thoroughly enjoy helping others achieve that moment of crystallization and clarity where the subject matter makes sense and everything clicks into place.
I have tutored since high school, calling myself Mathman and working with students of all ages. I continued as a Supplemental Instruction leader for General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry in college, and as a Teaching Assistant for graduate-level Biomolecules while earning an MS in Biophysics at the University of Pennsylvania.
I am very confident in my ability to tutor Math and Science, and I also have relevant experience in Computer Science and Statistics. I have a soft spot for tutoring high school science and math (including SAT/GRE prep) because these skills helped launch me into the graduate studies that I love. My teaching philosophy centers on identifying the right questions to ask, breaking the problem down into manageable steps, and focusing on comprehension of the fundamental concepts at the heart of the problem.
When I'm not tutoring, I like to create Portal levels, listen to silly and sciencey podcasts, and play board games with friends.
