I am a graduate of Brown University, with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. While in college, I tutored with the Neighborhood Partnership Program, a community-based tutoring service. I worked with high school students in the surrounding public schools, providing one-on-one help with homework and test prep. Since graduation, I have worked extensively in social services, both as a case manager at a community mental health center and a shelter for victims of domestic violence, and as a residential counselor at a group home. During this time, I made use of my excellent writing skills to secure a number of grants for the shelter. Working in such a challenging yet people-driven field has given me a nuanced perspective on the world, in addition to the interpersonal expertise that makes for an excellent tutor. Though I tutor in many subject areas, I am most passionate about Writing, English, and American literature. I also believe in the necessity of standardized test prep as a way to open doors for today's student's future. I am passionate about knowledge - whether it's deconstructing how our social economy functions, learning about the architectural history of Los Angeles, or analyzing ancient Greek fragments - and I hope to share that passion with my students. In my spare time, I love reading the New York Times, running, and cooking for friends.
