I'm a former college teacher and an author whose expertise is on writing an essay and teaching ESL. I have a master's degree in English. I'm an author of various essays in academic journals. My favorite grammar book is the Harbrace Handbook. I have experience teaching people with different cultural backgrounds and learning disabilities. Lastly, I'm able to assess a student's level and build on that level until a goal is reached.
What is your teaching philosophy?
To start, I believe in having a rapport with the student. In this way, I'm able to work with their strengths and weaknesses. Lastly, I treat each student as an individual and work with them on that basis.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
I give encouragement, which helps the student feel good about his/her achievement. I want the student to enjoy his/her success and have good self-esteem as a source motivation.
