I work with you as a student to find where you might be struggling first. It might be an issue with fundamentals, study skills, or difficult concepts in certain classes. Whatever the issue may be, I will find it and work through it with you. When you come out of a session you will feel confident and empowered to take on many challenges. Whether it's taking a test or a long homework assignment, you will have what it takes to not just succeed, but excel beyond your expectations!
I studied Chemical Engineering at Colorado School of Mines. During my time there I was always helping classmates and underclassmen understand things. I carried this into becoming a teacher's assistant in Thermodynamics, Biomedical Engineering, and Mass Transfer.
Upon graduating I worked as a math tutor for Right On Learning at Jefferson Jr./Sr. High School. I loved working with the students and applied my critical thinking to learn how to be the best tutor possible. I can and will find a way to explain something so it will be remembered, whether it is for a 6th grader or a college senior.

How do you evaluate a student's needs?
I gather information from parents, teachers, and the students themselves. I might give a student a problem and request they talk through every step of the problem. This helps me understand how the student thinks and what foundation topics might need to be addressed. I have had a student struggle in calculus, not because of the topics within calculus, but because of their Algebra knowledge.
How do you adapt your tutoring to the student's needs?
I identify their preferred learning type and adapt my problems and explanations to include more for that type. I use visual examples for visual learners and physical objects for kinesthetic learners.
What types of materials do you typically use during a tutoring session?
I bring our app with me to every session. I always have a whiteboard with many colors of markers nearby to help clarify concepts and distinguish certain graphs and pictures. I also have a smartphone to use if I do not have an explanation on hand. I adapt any material I find from the internet very quickly to the student's needs.
