Marlyn

I have a B.A. in English from the University of Michigan and and M.A. in English from Northwestern University. Having taught all aspects of English (reading, writing, grammar, literature, speech) for 28 years, plus over 20 years teaching ACT/SAT test prep (concurrently -- I'm not that old!) and doing private tutoring, I am totally qualified to assist students from grade 6 to adult. I am able to establish a friendly, respectful, productive relationship in which students feel empowered and encouraged to achieve. One skill that helps is my ability to break down concepts and grammar rules into their simplest forms, often using personal examples related to their lives, so students can understand complicated ideas that had confused them. Many students request me personally and say they have learned more from me than from any other English teacher. I love what I do.
