I graduated from Howard University with a Business Management degree and then joined Teach for America to teach elementary school in New Orleans. I am able to tutor in a vast array of subjects. My favorite subject to tutor is Math. I also enjoy helping students with test studying, test prep skills, and career building. I have experience teaching elementary and middle school students. I have tutored high school students as well as college students. I choose to tutor because I appreciate all that my education has given me . I was also given help while in high school. I love seeing the lightbulb when a student finally understands a concept behind a math problem or the use of grammar in a writing prompt.
In my free time I love reading. traveling (my goal is to visit all 7 continents), working out , and watching movies.

What is your teaching philosophy?
I believe that all students can learn, and my philosophy is that we all learn differently. Sometimes it takes different approaches to master a subject. When teaching I believe in the "I do, We do, You do" philosophy. I will teach, then we will practice together; finally the student will try the problems on his or her own.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
We will sit down and go over what specifically you are having difficulty with, and then you will show me some past problems that you have tried. From there I will began to teach you the skills necessary to get you on the right track.
How would you help a student get excited/engaged with a subject that they are struggling in?
We will use real life examples and things that excite the student. I will also break the subject down part by part, until the student is confident.
