I graduated from Johns Hopkins University in 2014 with a degree in biophysics and have been serving with City Year Chicago for the past two years. City Year is a national educational non-profit that aims to tackle the dropout crisis in underserved communities by providing academic support to at youth risk. I have served as the primary subject tutor in a middle school math classroom for the last two years. While at Johns Hopkins, I was a T.A. for the Organic Chemistry Lab course and also volunteered at the Community School (an alternative high school) as an after school math/ science tutor once a week.
I swam on the Johns Hopkins swim team and was an Honorable Mention All-American as a sophomore. I deferred medical school after one year with City Year to serve another year at my school and will begin medical school in August 2016 now. I am excited to tutor and help students achieve their academic goals.
