I am a recent graduate of Colorado College, majored in Physics and minored in Applied Variations Mathematics, and I plan to pursue a career in physics and teaching quantitative subjects. I have extensive experience teaching math, astronomy, and physics up to the college level as well as chemistry, economics, and computer science. I also have extensive experience speaking Mandarin Chinese at a high school level. I am also available for ACT, and SAT test prep for the mathematics and science sections. The SAT subject test in physics is definitely something I can help master.
I have just moved to Denver, and am working several tutor and Teaching Assistant positions while I apply to graduate school in Physics. I have already worked for a two-year term as a tutor at Colorado College’s Quantitative Reasoning Center, and demonstrated a strong ability to teach and advise college students on a variety of subjects. I made sure students felt confident and satisfied with my services. As a learning assistant and grader for Colorado College, I successfully assisted professors to ensure everything was prepared and running smoothly for their classes. I teach problem-solving in a conceptual manner, and minimize the information one has to look up or memorize in a testing situation. I can explain strategies for compartmentalizing the many equations and theorems in physics and mathematics.
Outside of tutoring and work, I like to snowboard, hike, swim, and go to concerts ( I really like hip-hop and rap music, but you would never know). I also enjoy dabbling in some amateur astronomy with my personal telescope. Many of my friends skateboard, but I can't risk another concussion after paying for a college education.

What is your teaching philosophy?
I believe teaching is very similar to coaching an athlete. A student must work to learn a new subject, but it is the goal of the teacher to expedite this process, and point him or her in the right direction. If he or she is working at it, and still don't get it, then I haven't done my job.
