Learning a new subject can be intimidating for even the fastest of learners, however developing key strategies to tackle each difficulty along the way can ensure a seamless path to success. My goal as your tutor is to help you identify these difficulties and work with you at a pace that best suits you and your learning style. I strongly believe that creating a lesson plan to best complement your needs can help ensure mastery of your academic goals. I would also help you develop a solid foundation to each subject and equip you with the necessary tools to creatively master the more challenging concepts ahead. In order to sustain interest and invigorate the learning process, it's important to understand how the bigger concepts and principles are applied in the work force. Having worked in many different areas of biological research and healthcare administration, I believe that I can make each tutoring session beneficial to both your personal and professional goals.
After graduating high school with high honors and an International Baccalaureate, I decided to major in a subject of great interest in which I had no prior exposure. This initially posed a great challenge, which was seen by my first few grades in introductory courses and even led me to possibly consider another field of study. However, once I took the time to individually sharpen my weaker areas and create an effective study plan, my grades began to increase dramatically, as well as my appreciation and enjoyment of the more advanced topics. My academic path finally led to what I once thought would be unattainable in my intended major - graduate school!
Over the years, I have accrued over 100+ hours of teaching experience between a broad set of subjects and student groups: from teaching IB French to a high schooler with a learning disability, to teaching Cellular Biochemistry to mature graduate students. From these diverse experiences, I am able to relate and empathize with others students who may be facing similar academic obstacles, but most importantly, I am confident that we can turn your weaknesses into greatest strengths.
