Hello, it is my goal as a tutor to help the student achieve his/her personal academic goals. I understand not every student is the same which is why I adjust my teaching style dependent on the person I am teaching. I try to keep tutoring sessions student-centered, meaning that I like to have them guide me through the material to the best of their knowledge as I direct them when help is needed. I encourage parent participation as well and create personalized lesson plans based on the student's needs/material. I am here to help as an educator and hope to hear from you soon!
What is your teaching philosophy?
Focusing on the student and their needs. I typically like to hear how they would first attempt to approach a problem, and after understanding possible errors in their thinking only then will I attempt to guide them step by step to the correct answer.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
Get acquainted with the student, their course work, and the student's current understanding so that I may develop a unique and personalized lesson plan for future tutoring sessions.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
By guiding students and not lecturing them or simply giving them the answer. I believe that a student needs to be led one step at a time through a problem, especially when they are struggling.
