Nick

I am a dedicated and passionate tutor who believes in helping students achieve their highest goals. Knowledge is empowering and I enjoy helping others to learn more about the world and ultimately themselves in the process. Everyone learns differently and I work with students to find the best ways to aid them in their academic journey.

I am currently a graduate student working towards a masters degree in research psychology. This field allows me to combine my love for social science, mathematics, history, and creative thinking skills in order to better understand how the mind works.

In my free time I practice and perform improv comedy, ride my bike and play with my dog Scout.

What is your teaching philosophy?

I believe in empowering students to achieve their highest goals. Patience, understanding and constructive feedback are all important factors in helping students progress.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

I would talk with the student and get a sense of what they would like to work on and their goals. I would work with the student on some sample practice problems in order to better assess their comfort with the subject and their strengths. The student and I would develop a plan to work on key concepts during the upcoming tutoring sessions. Above all, I would encourage the student to always ask questions and to point to ideas or areas they do not fully understand.
