I first became interested in the pedagogy when I was asked in college to be a writing tutor by my schools writing department. When I first entered school, l I had no ambition of becoming a teacher of any kind: I was a politics major who planned on pursuing a graduate degree upon completing my undergraduate degree; however, I spent the last two years of university picking up some extra money as a part time writing tutor, and it was here that I discovered my initial passion for teaching.

Upon my completion of university, I decided that I wanted to live in a foreign country. This was largely because I was a politics major, and, specifically, I had one major reason for wanting to live outside the country: to experience life outside America. To this end I chose a country as different from the United States as possible (at least in a political sense): China.

That said, to live outside the country I had to work outside the country, so I continued to find employment opportunities in the field of education. This allowed me to combine my two major interests in university, and, for two of the three years that I was abroad, I taught as a high school teacher.

While I enjoyed being a high school teacher very much, I knew that I still wanted to pursue higher education, so I came to the conclusion that I wanted to pursue a doctorates degree in politics; this, I figured, would enable me to combine my interest in teaching and my interest in politics as it would enable me to one day become a professor in politics.

In the meantime, as I prepare for graduate school, I would like to continue working in the field of education. Being a tutor is of particular interest to me, because it is a job which I would be able to continue working part time once I begin my graduate education.
