Last May, I graduated from an elite liberal arts college in the corn fields of Iowa, otherwise known as Grinnell College. I majored in Anthropology and Math. Though, to be honest the Math was basically an accident. Even though my math classes kept on getting progressively harder, they were also getting more and more fascinating. So fascinating, that I never stopped taking them! I am pretty nerdy, my favorite number is 2, because it's the only even prime number. Think about how cool it is that an even number is prime! As far as anthropology goes, I am interested in Cultural Anthro, mostly because I enjoy people watching. I have also conducted research in Linguistic Anthropology, I wrote my thesis on one of Khalid Sheikh Mohammad's (9/11 mastermind) pre-trial hearings at Guantanamo Bay Prison. I have experience as a writing tutor. Additionally, I would love to help impart my love (or at least appreciation) of numbers to you! I played soccer from the age of 5-19, including 2 years in college.I was on the Peace and Conflict Studies Committee at Grinnell, and I have participated in several other social justice causes that I would be happy to talk about. I was in band in high school, brass section. I look forward to working with you to help you achieve your academic goals.

Q & A

What is your teaching philosophy?

My teaching philosophy is simple; fun. If the student is not enjoying the session in some way, then they won't reach their potential. Now, I'm not talking rad concert and amusement park fun (though that would be nice), but you should feel a kind of satisfaction throughout the session. For example, this feeling might be because you finally decided on a concise thesis statement, or because that math concept finally 'clicked.'
