Kyle

I am paraprofessional for Denver Public Schools and I passionate about helping out students learn to the best of their abilities. I currently work at Respect Academy where I help tutor students through online classes across all subjects areas in an effort to regain credits needed in order to obtain a high school diploma. My favorite subjects to tutor in are Math and Science. I love them as you can really start to see how the world works and why certain things happen the way that they do.

I attended Front Range Community College where I was working towards a degree in American Sign Language. I had to drop out of school for personal reasons, but I will be going back to school to work towards a degree in Educational Administration.

In my free time I sing a lot! I sing with a couple of choruses here in Denver and I perform all over the metro area. I also enjoy science fiction shows, reading fantasy novels and looking up fun new recipes to try out in the kitchen.

My educational philosophy is to really get to know my students and get them to connect with me so that we can really learn the most together. I believe that once students trust their teachers, they are much more willing to learn from them and improve in their studies.

I love working with my students and one day aspire to be a Principal so that I can help inspire our students to achieve greatness in future generations.

What is your teaching philosophy?

My educational philosophy is to really get to know my students and get them to connect with me so that we can really learn the most together. I believe that once students trust their teachers, they are much more willing to learn from them and improve in their studies.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

I would get to know them a little bit. I would want to try and find some hobbies or mutual common interests. I can also then find fun ways to incorporate their interests into our tutoring sessions.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

By supplying them with sufficient tools and methods on how to find answers and conclusions on their own. Whether that means showing them how to take notes, make useful flash cards, how to edit answer choices or how to find credible resources online.

How would you help a student stay motivated?

I could find some fun incentives for achieving goals.
