Currently, I am working on completing my Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry with a minor in math and will be graduating in spring of 2018 from University of New Mexico (UNM). After graduation, I will be moving forward in my education and attending graduate school to focus on biomedical research. I find tutoring high school students very rewarding because I am able to give them the tricks of the trade that I have learned over the years. I know firsthand that school can get overwhelming, and I make it my goal in each of my tutoring sessions to ease the student’s stress levels. While my focus is tutoring science and math, I also feel very comfortable in helping tutor with both reading and writing. Additionally, I tutor standardized test prep such as the ACT to help students more easily be accepted into their preferred colleges. As a current college student, I believe that I am able to connect with high school students more easily because I am not that much different from them. Not only am I able to help a student achieve their academic goals, but also let them know what will be expected of them when they move on to college. I believe in not just helping a student grasp a concept but also to help them develop strong study habits. School is not everything though, and I do enjoy taking time for myself to decompress. My favorite stress reliever is baking because it is an activity that requires my full attention allowing no room for me to stress over an assignment.
