I am currently at Red Rocks Community College finishing up general education courses for a major in Chemical Engineering with a minor in Mathematics.
After Red Rocks, I will be attending Colorado School of Mines to finish my undergraduate coursework.
I have been tutoring mathematics for about 4 years now. I feel that teaching is one of the purest art forms in the world, that is why I love it so much. The satisfaction I receive from viewing a student's understanding come into fruition is unparalleled. The happiness that comes from understanding math is a gift which every individual should be able to enjoy. My favorite subjects to tutor are Algebra and Geometry. Calculus, Differential Equations, and Trigonometry are also very strong subjects for me.
My teaching style is strongly influenced by Socrates. I have found that the Socratic Method is my choice for teaching math for a few reasons. The first and most important being: It breeds critical thinking. This results in a deeper understanding of concepts. In addition, the relationship with the student that is formed through this method is very positive. And finally, the combination of the first two result in building extreme confidence in math. These are keys to a happy mathematics career (something everyone has the right to).
