I strive towards meeting people where they are; whether it is a student, my friends and family, or even myself, this personal mantra takes patience and understanding. In practice, this manifests as non-judgment of where one’s ability is in that particular moment, be it basic to advanced. For my students, this means a comfortable learning environment where one isn’t afraid to make mistakes, look stupid, or feel the need to impress. Learning a language is hard, and I know this well because I have been there and continue to be there on a daily basis. So, let’s start with what you like, and build from there; from knowing absolutely nothing, to needing to refine your advanced language skills, I can help you get there in a friendly and encouraging manner.
I come with over eight years of academic Spanish instruction, earning a Bachelors of Arts in Latin American Spanish Language and Literature from Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado. Since then, I have spent over 18 months in Spanish-speaking countries, including a continuous year living, working, and volunteering in Colombia. I look forward to helping you on the path to speaking another language!
