What is your teaching philosophy?

My teaching style can be best described as one that implements various methodologies in order to find the most effective method for each individual student. I keep students engaged by keeping the lessons relevant and using examples they can relate to. I believe in a "hands-on" learning experience. I strongly believe that writing things down makes it easier to process the information.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

I will try to get to know the personality of the student. I'll establish a friendly atmosphere and promise fun and interactive tutoring sessions.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

I will help a student become an independent learner by letting them work on their own and letting them try to teach me what they have learned and discovered. I believe teaching is the way to learn.

How would you help a student stay motivated?

I will help a student to stay motivated by verbal praising. I'll make the learning process easy and fun.

If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?

I will try to explain the same concept using different explanations.

How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?

By practicing, and learning to pay attention to clues and keys in the reading passages. Staying engaged by writing notes.

What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?

Teaching me back the concepts and skills they have learned.

How would you help a student get excited/engaged with a subject that they are struggling in?

I will help them find easier ways of learning difficult material. Simplify and give examples.

What techniques would you use to be sure that a student understands the material?

Let them work on their own. Practice as many problems as they can. Assess their understanding through testing.

How do you build a student's confidence in a subject?

I will never discourage them. I believe that through hard work, they all can achieve excellence. I will tell them about my difficulties and how I overcame those barriers.

How do you evaluate a student's needs?

By maintaining open and friendly relationships so they will feel comfortable opening up about their needs. I try to be understanding and patient.

How do you adapt your tutoring to the student's needs?

I am ready and willing to adapt my teaching method, depending on their learning process and other needs.

What types of materials do you typically use during a tutoring session?

I prefer the hands-on method. I always try to provide students with notes so they can use the notes in the future as well.
