I am a former mathlete who loves working with students because I want to help them excel in the same way that my favorite teachers helped me to. I earned my BA in Environmental Biology from Columbia, and later my MFA in Film & TV Writing from USC, but I have always remained a math enthusiast (okay, nerd) at heart. I always found that my best math teachers taught me to be creative about breaking down hard problems into easier problems -- and not to simply try to memorize everything. This is the same approach I take to tutoring: though some memorization can't be avoided, I believe the key to being a better math student is to improve at determining the right strategy for solving a problem.
Outside of tutoring, I enjoy writing comedy, tackling the occasional computer programming project, and making and listening to music.
