Hello! My name is Chris, and I would like to thank you for considering me as you look for a tutor.
A bit about myself: I was born and raised in the great state of Maine, where I attended both public and private schools. After graduating from high school in 2009, I ventured outside New England to attend Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee. Living in Memphis came with a bit of culture shock at first, but it was a great experience for me. As an undergraduate in Memphis, I tutored math and physics in elementary, middle, and high schools. In my senior year, I tutored my college peers in computer science. After graduating in 2013 with a bachelor's degree in mathematics and economics and a GPA of 3.85, I worked in software engineering for a health informatics corporation called Epic Systems in Madison, Wisconsin. My job at Epic was rewarding in many ways, but it was not a great fit for me. I realized that I wanted to pursue my academic interests further before settling into a career. Therefore, I left Epic and was admitted to a graduate program in computer science at the Georgia Institute of Technology, which I began this fall (2015).
I find mathematics of all levels interesting, from arithmetic to algebra to calculus and beyond. I also enjoy working with kids and adults equally. Therefore, whether you are the parent of a 3rd-grader struggling with long division, or a college senior who needs a math refresher before taking the GRE, I can help you. I can also offer tutoring in non-math sections of the SAT, ACT, GRE, and GMAT. I recently took the GRE and achieved score percentiles of 98, 96, and 93 in the test's respective quantitative, verbal, and writing sections. Additionally, I was classically taught on the piano, and was Rhodes College's Jazz Ensemble pianist. I would jump at the chance to give piano lessons or help anyone with reading music or understanding music theory. In any case, I pride myself on being someone who is easy for anyone with any learning style to talk to and learn from.
