I am an undergraduate at Northwestern University studying biomedical engineering. One of the most important ideas that I have come to understand is to never let school get in the way of education. In my view, education is a mindset that, if adopted, can lead to tremendous personal growth. I focus on concepts and the core, fundamental reasons behind problems, giving my students the critical thinking skills necessary to solve more complex problems later in their education or even outside the classroom. I challenge my students to ask why and to not become satisfied with memorization.
I share my passion of the sciences with the pursuit of the arts. The best scientists use creative, artistic thinking to discover new ideas, and the best artists apply logic and reason to convey stronger, coherent expressions of themes and motifs. It is this passion for not just a particular subject field, but for education in general, that I hope to foster in my students. This mindset of education will give my the students the skills necessary to succeed in the classroom, master new material, and improve their test taking abilities.
