I am a local Houstonian that attended Cesar Chavez HS located in the Southeast end of Houston, I am a sophomore in the University of Houston studying for an MBA in Accounting.
Currently my tutoring experience consists of tutoring and helping fellow students understand concepts in our math and accounting classes. I tutor Pre-K through High School math. Also, I am able to speak and tutor in Spanish. Currently my favorite subject to tutor is Algebra because I have enjoyed learning all the concepts and theories. Personally I believe that every student learns things differently, some may learn through the book and seeing everything done step by step while others learn through on-hands learning. I believe in approaching every student in a different manner than the last.
What is your teaching philosophy?
My personal teaching philosophy is that not everyone will understand problems and concepts in a textbook manner. Others will be able to think beyond the textbook, and find shorter and more efficient ways to answer a problem.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
In the first session, I would like to get to know the student a little, and also let them know a little about myself. In addition to this, I would like to see how much they already know on a certain subject.
