Learning and teaching have always been the most important parts of my life. From my time in grade school, to university and beyond, personal growth and achievement have been my focus and my drive. During my undergraduate work, I studied Philosophy with a focus in Ethics, the science of morality. This led me to understand that a good life and being a good person are all about positive attitude and constantly striving toward something greater.
I also had a minor course of study in Politics, Economics, and Law. I am bilingual, speaking both English and conversational Mandarin Chinese. It is my belief that a person ought to study as broadly as possible in order to understand the changing world around us and our place in the vast span of humanity.
When I was younger, my introduction to those lessons came through martial arts classes. I attained a 2nd Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do, from the Midwest Martial Arts Academy. Throughout that learning process I had my first opportunity to teach both young people and adults and I realized what I was meant to do.
In high school I began tutoring my fellow students in Social Studies and Government. In college I spent 8 weeks of my freshman year teaching reading skills and phonics to young children at Imagine Madison Avenue School, and another eight assisting and teaching high school students poetry at Toledo School for the Arts in addition to continuing to tutor other subjects to my college student peers.
I hope that my experience and my dedication are what you are looking for in a tutor and that I can help you along your path to success in the way that so many have helped me.
