I am a 4th year undergraduate student attending the University of Florida to get my degree in Computer Engineering. This degree program requires a strong mathematics background, especially in Algebra and Calculus. My favorite class was Calculus I because I had a great teacher who had a laid back mindset, but was brilliant at teaching the subject in a way that made sense. This inspired me to do it myself. I tutored Calculus at my university by going over example problems, homework questions, and old exams in order to provide my students with a solid understanding of key concepts. I believe a patient approach to tutoring is effective in creating a constructive and comfortable learning environment for students. Outside of my studies, I enjoy a very active lifestyle by exercising in the gym by weightlifting. I always try to find a way to improve myself. I also like canoeing, bike riding, reading, studying, and swimming. I'm an easygoing guy with a dorky sense of humor who is excited to work with you.

Q & A

What is your teaching philosophy?

I think that learning by doing is a classic and effective way to solidify the understanding of a topic. Doing some example questions involving the subject matter seems to be the best of both worlds as far as boosting comprehension and giving an example of how to apply the material.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

I ask if the student is studying for a test or just to understand the material better. I then try to talk about who they are and make the tutoring situation more of a relaxing experience.
