Aaron

I am a Pomona College student who loves learning, teaching, and kids. As a high school writing tutor, I have helped students brainstorm, write, revise, and edit academic papers. I also have extensive experience working with young people as a summer camp counselor, babysitter, and student teacher. From my experience in high school and college, I know that studying is challenging but can also be very rewarding.

I am looking to tutor middle school and high school students in English, U.S. and European history, Spanish, math, and SAT. My undergraduate major is Philosophy, Politics, and Economics. I enjoy wordplay and writing, and I have edited and contributed to student newspapers in high school and college. I have studied Spanish in high school and college and done significant travel in Latin America.

My approach to tutoring is simple: help my students accomplish their best and make the process low-stress and enjoyable. I think anyone can improve their academic and test-taking skills with clear and personalized guidance. I seek to get to know my students well and tailor my approach to their learning style. I give practice assignments and assessments between each lesson so that we can make the most of our time together. With students preparing for a standardized test, I look to ease any fears they have and help them focus on the material and strategies to achieve. For students working on a larger academic subject, I try to instill a joy in the learning by connecting it to the larger world of ideas. For either type of student, I believe that successful outcomes can only come from conscientious, committed teaching.

My goal is to get my clients results. I always appreciate feedback, and I will never bill for a lesson if the student or parent isn't completely satisfied.

Please get in touch! I look forward to hearing from you and setting up a lesson.
