I recently just received my degree in studying Biology at Northwest Nazarene University where I graduated with honors. While I have aspirations to attend medical school in the upcoming years, right now I am enjoying medical experience through scribe work as well as working as a tutor.
I currently have about three years of tutoring experience under my belt. These experiences range from volunteer tutoring high schoolers in organic and physical chemistry, to two years working as a supplemental instructor for my university's Anatomy and Physiology class, to even the occasional work as a Spanish tutor and writing consultant for freshman and graduate students alike. Currently, I chose to tutor 1-12th grade writing, 1-6th grade math, high school biology and chemistry, college Anatomy, and college essays. Though I boast a vast array of subjects, I would say my most comfortable subjects would be working through grammar and mechanics of writing and the sciences specifically Anatomy.
I believe that being a tutor is more than being knowledgeable in a specific field; it is also about understanding what it is like to be a student. I understand the enormous pressure students go through in school, and I know the frustration of tirelessly working through a problem to no avail. As a tutor, my greatest job is to let my students know I have been there too, and I am excited to walk them to the other side of that bridge! I am passionate about creating a safe space for students so that I can better understand their learning styles and create and work through problems accordingly.
Outside of tutoring, one of my biggest passions is fitness and health, which I practice through weight training and volleyball. I also love music and have a history in musical theater. I also am an active youth leader at my church and love befriending my students and walking alongside them through their high school years. Finally, I am incredibly passionate about travel and have been blessed enough to visit a few countries in Europe and hope to further explore in time.
