I first started helping students reach their goals when I was still in college. I worked in an intensive Japanese-language course during my summer breaks, teaching a year's worth of curriculum in only a few weeks. After graduating magna cum laude from The Ohio State University with a BA in Japanese and Linguistics, I spent time in Korea and Japan. For the majority, I taught in English immersion programs, teaching everything from phonics and essay writing to science and math. I had students of all levels: younger students who were still learning to read, write, and tie their shoes, older students attempting to enter international or American/British high schools and universities, and adults who wanted to brush up or continue to learn more.
I enjoy working with students and seeing them learn and make progress. I like to think that learning anything can be fun. It all depends on the approach you take. During my time in Japan, I continued to study Japanese myself, passing the highest level of the Japanese Language Proficiency test. Preparing for the different levels of the test constantly reminded me of challenges people can come across trying to obtain a goal.
When I have free time, I like to catch a new movie (or an old one that's new to me), take pictures, or head outside and see what I can find. I look forward to meeting you.
