I graduated from the University of California Santa Barbara with honors and a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. My next academic goal is to attend medical school in hopes of becoming an oncologist. Throughout high school, I volunteered my time tutoring other students in various subjects. Seeing others have that "ah ha" moment made tutoring so rewarding, and I knew I wanted to continue tutoring while in college. While at UCSB, I tutored for Campus Learning Assisted Service which offered help to students who were struggling in certain classes. I specifically tutored chemistry that followed along with the UCSB lecture. My goal is to teach students concepts in the most simplified way possible. I also offer a different explanation on concepts for students who do not understand the way a teacher or professor might explain it. Also, I focus on understanding the reasoning behind concepts, rather than just memorizing how to do each specific problem. Along with focusing on chemistry, I also try to instill different and effective studying strategies to help students study in the most progressive way possible. Not only do I want to be a chemistry tutor for my students, but I want to be a mentor and help my students excel in all aspects of their academics. While I do love science, I also enjoy reading, running, hiking, swimming, scrap booking, and anything active.
