I come to Varsity Tutors fresh from biological research at Yale and graduate school in New York City. I spent two years in a PhD program taking graduate biology coursework, teaching undergraduates biology and anatomy, and doing genetics research before realizing my real passion is using biological knowledge to nurture and empower people on a personal level. My experience taking six AP courses in high school before completing my Bachelor of Science in Biology at Yale University and teaching undergraduates at Fordham University has prepared me to lead your student through biology with real world examples, especially from my research career. I have multiple publications in scientific journals, as well as experience presenting my work at conferences and in grant proposals, so I can go beyond helping your student learn scientific material by coaching them in the art of technical writing. I pride myself on adapting to students’ needs and thinking of creative ways to teach biological concepts. Additionally, I love helping students develop standardized test taking strategies for AP exams and the ACT to build confidence and complement their knowledge. Years applying to various programs and funding agencies have also helped me develop sound strategies for focusing on individual strengths and exuding confidence when writing personal statements or funding proposals. I would love to coach you through any written application process requiring a personal touch!

When I am not tutoring, I am playing naturalist on hikes, running marathons, crocheting various home goods, or supporting women through pregnancy and birth as a doula (professional labor companion). In five or ten years I hope to care for women in their transition to motherhood as a Certified Nurse Midwife.
