I am a graduate of the University of California, Riverside with a BS in Biological Sciences with a concentration in Medical Biology. I am currently applying to medical school and I hope to gain admission for the 2016 rotation. I worked as a Supplemental Instructor at my university during the 2013-2014 academic school year for general chemistry. As a supplemental instructor, I held weekly review sessions for students where I would personally attend lectures with the students and during my review sessions, I would go over material that was covered presently in class through classroom discussion style lectures, informal worksheets, and group discussions. I am also an Eagle Scout recipient, having received my award on August 25, 2009 with Troop 110 of Union City, California. My experience in Boy Scouts has helped me to develop my interpersonal and communication skills as well as experience working with people of a diverse range of ages and occupations: from elementary school up to working professionals.
I am comfortable tutoring any subject related to the premedical route. Though I graduated with a degree in biological sciences, my academic interests expand beyond just sciences. Having struggled much through my academic career, I understand what it is like to be the one student that does not seem to understand the subject and from fear of standing out, they do not seek any help, resulting in unfortunate results. I feel that I can make topics relatable, engaging, applicable, and easy to recall. I strive towards a clear understanding of topics, rather than simple route memorization. I try to supplement learning, rather than recite from textbooks.
In my spare time I try to engage in a variety of (ever-changing) hobbies/interests. The hobbies that I have stuck with the most are reading, rock climbing, running, guitar, and serving with my local church.
