I am a graduating senior at the University of Texas at Dallas and working towards a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry. This upcoming fall, I will be attending the UT Southwestern Medical School and am very excited about it. For the last 3 years at UTD, I have worked under the Student Success Center as a Peer Led Team Learning (PLTL) Leader for General Chemistry I & II. As a PLTL Leader, my main focus is not to teach the material, but guide the students into figuring out and understanding the material through discussion with their peers. Through this experience, I have learned that each student learns at a different pace and grasps concepts differently, and my biggest responsibility as a tutor is to convey the information in a manner that students will understand best. As a student myself, I am a firm believer that the best way to understand and retain something is by taking the time to figure it out, with guidance if necessary, rather than being spoon-fed the information.
As a biochemistry major and a pre-med student, I have taken numerous courses in biology, chemistry and mathematics and comfortable with tutoring any of those subjects. However, my favorite subjects to tutor are chemistry and biology. During my spare time, I love to workout, play intramural sports, play the piano, watch TV/Netflix and play with my two labrador retrievers. I will also be one of the biggest Dallas Mavericks fan you'll ever meet.
