Within the first two weeks of my sophomore year at Phillips Academy, Andover, I was one of the few students to pass out of Competence (in writing). I continued to stand out in all the English classes meant for juniors and seniors, often receiving the only 6 (“A+” equivalent) in a particular section. While studying English in college, I caught the acting bug and graduated with a degree in Performance Studies from Northwestern University. Recently, I earned a Master of Education degree from American International College.
Apart from teaching and tutoring English standard and honors classes at Somerville High School for seven years, I also taught SAT Prep, MCAS Prep, theatre, and public speaking. In my time there, the school's test scores and rankings have skyrocketed.
As a tutor and teacher, I work to student strengths while developing areas that need improvement; I am a firm believer that every student can learn. A literature analysis and writing stickler, I work hard to improve skills and ensure college readiness. My energy and sense of humor make my sessions popular. I portray academics in a fun light, akin to what I call the “mental gym” where one learns how to learn while maintaining a relaxed and enjoyable learning environment.
When not working in education, I continue to pursue acting and am currently penning two screenplays. I love tennis, guitar, cooking, travel, and, most of all, making my wife and kids giggle.
