I am a graduate of Kansas State University. I received my Bachelor of Science in History with a minor in Political Science. After graduation I moved to the Northwest and worked for the Portland Trail Blazers living an hour from Mt. Hood and the Pacific coast was a wonderful experience.
Continuing my passion for education, I returned to Lewis and Clark College pursuing my degree in Elementary Education.
After graduation I had the privilege of teaching 5th grade for three years in the Kansas City Kansas Public School District. I thoroughly enjoyed learning with my students on a daily basis. I encouraged my students to always think critically and support their conclusions. I have tutored students in a variety of subjects such as: elementary and intermediate math, social studies, and reading. However, U.S. History is my passion!!! I love discussing Westward expansion, Constitutional Law, and 19th Century U.S. History to name a few. When discussing historical topics, investigating what happened and why it happened fosters understanding. Similar to working in the classroom, I encourage students to think critically about a subject and analyze it it from a variety of perspectives.
In my spare time I enjoy traveling, learning about music, reading, writing poetry and watching college basketball.
