I am a graduate of the University of Oregon who has recently relocated to Colorado. I obtained my BA in French Literature and Language with minors in both Italian and Spanish. I briefly minored in Medieval Studies but quickly realized I had too much on my plate! After finishing my BA, I traveled to Europe for a summer to immerse myself in the languages and cultures I had studied. It was one of my most amazing experiences! I then began my Education studies. I obtained my MAED in Elementary Education with teaching certificates in grades K-8 in Oregon, Colorado, California, and Arizona. I am currently working on my English as a Second Language endorsement from Western Governors University. I have experience teaching all grades K-12 as well as tutoring some adults who are learning English. I have taught Kindergarten for a private school, substitute taught grades K-12, and tutored students in Italian, Spanish, Reading, Math, and Writing. I taught French and Spanish to middle and high school students for Upward Bound. I currently teach online for Christa McAuliffe Academy; I am the Italian, Spanish, and History teacher. I am passionate about World and Ancient History. When I am not teaching or studying, I love to train for triathlons, swim, read, practice yoga, or spend time outside. I miss the ocean and the rain on the West Coast but I am enjoying the drastic weather and outdoors in Colorado.

What is your teaching philosophy?

I believe that students learn best when they are excited and interested in what they are learning! Any subject can be made fun with the right material and attitude.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

In a first session, I like to spend the first bit of time getting to know the student. Most people are shy and hesitant at first. If time is spent finding out who the student is as a person (e.g., what they like and don't like) and forming a connection with them, they will perform better and learn more.
