I recently graduated from Colorado State University with a Master of Science degree in Bio-engineering. I also received my undergraduate degree from CSU, earning a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. I am endlessly fascinated by all things science and I’ve had many friends and classmates tell me that I would make a great teacher because of my passion for the material and my ability to concisely explain concepts.

I feel that having a dialogue with a tutor is a much more effective way to learn than sitting through a lecture because it is interactive for the student and can be personalized to the individual student’s learning style. My own learning style is very visual and I like to use pictures, diagrams and animations to help with the learning process.

While a solid understanding of the fundamental concepts and their context within a given subject is important, I consider science to be much more than a collection of facts. It is a way of thinking and understanding and asking questions about the world. I believe that the better someone is able to develop the critical thinking skills required in science, the better equipped they will be to succeed throughout life.

Although I’m done with school my education is never finished and I spend a lot of time reading, especially about the vast and amazing field of modern biotechnology. In my free time I like to stay physically active. I play drums and occasionally guitar, I often ride my bike and I also enjoy running and spending time in the mountains hiking when it’s warm and snowboarding in the winter.
