Jackie

I am currently a graduating Senior at California State University of Northridge, studying Business Administration with a focus on Finance. Not only have I tutored students from elementary school to High school, but I also help my peers understand math in such a way that corresponds with their learning techniques. I enjoy teaching math and helping my students understand math by using scenarios that they can relate with. I take the time to assess my students and really figure out their ways of learning. Math has always been my favorite subject in school and helping others realize that math can be easy an interesting has been something I look forward to.
I have been working with a tutoring company called Academic Advantage for over a year. My students mostly consist of high school students and a few elementary and middle school students. Every student I have tutored has improved greatly and it has shown on their post-test scores. In my spare time, I enjoy blogging and reading blogs that enrich my life, fitness training, photography, and traveling.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

During our first session, I typically give the student an assessment text in the subject to understand what areas need help specifically. Then I would draw up a plan on how to further assist the student's specific needs.
