I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Biology and a concentration in Neurobiology. I also completed one of the liberal arts honors programs offered at UT. Throughout college, I had internships and jobs both on and off-campus, and I was an undergraduate researcher in the department of neuroscience at my university. Among these experiences, working as a writing consultant at our undergraduate writing center was especially memorable for me. It was a joy to help students from various academic backgrounds cultivate the writing skills they needed in order to flourish in undergraduate courses and even in the professional world. I also served as a lead peer academic coordinator in several of my science courses, including Biology I, Organic Chemistry, Microbiology, and Ecology. These roles required me to lead weekly on-campus study sessions with other students in the classes and interactively review course material. Prior to each session, I met with the professor to discuss methods I would implement in order to promote the success of fellow peers. Because I grew up with a brother who has a significant learning disability, teaching is something that I've come to value on a personal level. Throughout my brother's school years, I assisted him with assignments as well as extra-curricular activities so that he could gain enrichment to the best of his ability. Therefore, I've developed patience and an understanding of the uniqueness of various learning styles. I've had the privilege of gaining teaching experience in a wide variety of subjects, and it would be a joy for me to help students achieve success in the biological and physical sciences, algebra, essay writing, and english. I'm a firm believer in self-confidence, and seek to bring that out in my students by helping them fulfill their academic potential. In my spare time, I enjoy doing yoga, painting, playing soccer, and searching for the perfect cupcake.
