I am a graduate of the University of San Diego and received my Bachelor of Arts in Music there in 2002. In addition, I possess a Multiple Subjects Teaching Credential, attained from National University in 2011. For over three years, I worked as a substitute teacher primarily in public school districts, and I have worked with several elementary through high school students and a few adults in private tutoring. Though I tutor a variety of subjects, my passion lies within language arts for English and Spanish, mathematics particularly in elementary and middle school, and anything music-related. Language and math are crucial to learning and so relevant to the real world, hence my great interest in the subjects. Tutoring music is the ultimate teaching experience for me, as music has been my biggest interest since I was thirteen years old. I strongly believe in an education for all people, as to become better citizens in the world academically and socially. When I tutor, I attempt to make the experience a fun and engaging one for the students, showing the purpose of the activity and using strategies that are comprehensible and all-encompassing to the content of the subject area. Outside of teaching, I enjoy listening to, playing, and writing music, watching many types of movies, travelling, learning new things such as language and cultural traditions, spending time with friends, walking, skiing, and watching baseball. Engaging in impersonations, whether I speak like a character from Star Wars or some celebrity, also is a creative outlet I like to engage in that can be entertaining. Most importantly, I like to engage in a variety of activities and live a unique experience.
