I am a graduate of Loyola University Chicago. I graduated in three years, earning a Bachelor's Degree in English, with a minor in Philosophy, summa cum laude. I then spent 3 years working professionally before entering law school. I graduated from The George Washington University Law School, where I taught and tutored as an editor on the Law Review. I mainly tutor in English Literature, Writing and Standardized Test Preparation. I prefer English Literature the most, as I enjoy sharing my love of literature with students. I find that the key to achievement is interest and comfort with subject material. I strive to determine what approach to the material will be most effective and try to keep the environment non-judgmental and comfortable. In my free time, I enjoy reading, playing guitar, following sports and playing video games. I think my greatest asset as a tutor is that I try to approach students as intellectual peers, so that we, together, can learn a way to effectively master the skills we study.

Q & A

What is your teaching philosophy?

Anyone can improve their performance with practice and hard work. My job is to help you get the most from your preparations.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

Typically, I'll ask you about your interests, your past experiences with the test or subject we'll be focusing on, I'll talk about my expectations and we'll probably do some practice problems.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

I try to help students realize that the most important thing they can do to improve their test scores is learn outside of the classroom. I always assign independent reading as homework and I try to make exercises include your interests.
