I am a graduate of Tulane University in New Orleans, LA. I received my degrees in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology and English Literature in 2012. I moved back to my hometown of Denver that same year and began a Masters in Integrative Biology at the University of Colorado at Denver, where I currently teach general biology courses. I’ve worked for the US EPA and USGS, and I’m currently looking into PhD programs. I tutor general biology and English subjects, including test prep (SAT, GRE, PSAT, AP). I was a National Merit Scholar for the PSAT. I’m awfully pleased to be putting my poor, neglected English degree to good use! My tutoring philosophy generally centers around identifying a student’s strengths and weaknesses, and giving them the organizational and problem-solving skills they need to address academic challenges on their own. I’ve conducted writing workshops and edited newspaper copy since I was in high school, and I strongly believe that when it comes to verbal learning, practice makes perfect, and practice with outstanding source material makes a huge difference. In the little spare time I do have, I like to read, write, draw, and play the violin or the piano, though I’m pretty out of practice at this point in time. I am available to travel to tutor on-site, and I am also available for online tutoring.
